St. Margaret's House

Eligibility & Application

St. Margaret's House, a HUD Section 202/8 housing facility for the elderly and disabled persons with mobility impairments, is seeking qualified applicants for placement on the waiting list for potential tenancy in the future.

Applicants must be: i) elderly persons age 62 and older or ii) disabled mobility impaired persons age 18 and older who need the special design features of our units, to be eligible. Income, household size and additional criteria as per HUD guidelines apply

Monthly Rent:
Based on 30% of adjusted income (as per HUD guidelines)

Pre-Application:
Interested applicants are required to submit a completed pre-application card via first class mail only. Only 200 pre-application cards will be selected by lottery. Duplicates, photocopies, incomplete, ineligible and illegible pre-application cards will be disqualified.

Pre-application cards will be available upon request beginning March 19, 2012, through March 23, 2012 only. Interested persons may obtain a pre-application card by:

• Writing to St. Margaret's House, 49 Fulton Street, New York, NY 10038 (written request must be received by St. Margaret's House between 3/19/2012 and 3/23/2012 no later than 5:00 p.m.) or:

• Picking it up in person at St. Margaret's House, 49 Fulton Street, New York, NY 10038 (Monday, 3/19/2012 through Friday, 3/23/2012, between the hours of 10:00 am – 12 noon & 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.)

Completed pre-application cards must be postmarked by April 2, 2012, and returned by first class mail only to the P.O. Box number listed on the card. No in-person dropoff of completed pre-application card at 49 Fulton Street, New York, NY 10038. No priority, certified, registered, express or overnight mail will be accepted.

The lottery will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at 10 am in the St. Margaret's House Atrium. Only the selected and eligible applicants will receive a written notification from St. Margaret's House. Pre-application cards not selected in the lottery process will not be acknowledged and will be discarded.
